One of the latest innovations when it comes to Apple iPhone is the use of a virtual QWERTY keyboard rather than a physical keyboard. This is coupled with a multi touch screen display.

Apple wanted to make everyone excited with the release of the iPhone. Nevertheless, users can get most fun using it since there are a lot of tricks that you can do with its keyboard.

If you want to crate word contractions such as "We'll" and "He'll," you need to make sure that the apostrophe is inserted. However, adding one can be such a hassle. You still need to press the punctuation button and then the apostrophe to form the correct word.

But there's another simpler and faster way: you can just simply add another "l" into the word, as in "helll." The keyboard software will suggest "he'll." The same goes with the word "we'll."

The alphabet keys and the punctuation keys actually belong to 2 various kinds of keyboard layouts. If you want to create a comma or a period, for example, you need to do a three-step procedure:

1. You tap in the lower left the following keys: ?1123. This is to invoke the appropriate punctuation layout.2. Write the period.3. Press the ABC key found in the lower left to go back to the alphabet layout.

Yet the entire process is too cumbersome. What if you're going to write "D.O.E. of the U.S.A." To avoid hurting your fingers from pressing too many keys, you can do a single gesture: long press the key until you can select the correct punctuation, such as period or comma.

The iPhone's Web browser can function just like any other desktop Web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox. You actually don't need to type in the entire URL, along with the .com extension—just write the URL and then press Go. The highly advanced and dependable Safari Web browser will directly add the extension for you. You may think that it's not a hassle since it's just a single button press. But hey, isn't that enough energy saving for you?

The many different tips and tricks are made to fully maximize your use of the iPhone, most especially of its keyboards. But like any other new tool, definitely there's much more that you can discover from it. Just be smart and be observant.

iPhone Love Or Hate

If you've waited intensely for the release of the iPhone, then you're simply one of the millions. Practically we're all hit with the iPhone fever, because we're enthralled by their so-called touch screen technology. But is this smart phone a true piece of eye candy or is it sugarcoated with too much exaggeration?Let's talk about the advantages of the iPhone. It has a very big screen, compared to any ordinary phones. This means that you can view text messages and images with clarity. Its colors are very sharp and very vivid.

I really don't know how you'll classify its touch screen system. Sometimes I find it fascinating really, since I don't have to constantly bring the stylus or tire my fingers with the keypads. But since it's a relatively new technology, this means constant practice is still needed. Nevertheless, finger pressing seems a lot of fun. In fact, there are already iPhone tricks that you can do.

Iphone allows everyone to connect to the Internet in a variety of ways. You can go for WiFi connection or utilize its EDGE technology. But if you're previously using a 3G phone, iPhone may fall short as it's only a dual-band phone; data transmission can be much slower. Its Safari web browser may not be at par with the one you have in your PC, yet it's still very impressive. What other phone can allow you to look at web pages as they are?

The iPhone is also a true blue handheld video player that allows you to view TV shows, movies, and listen to music without any trouble. Of course, it also holds up to its very decent music player. But you can't download music, and that's a big hassle for anyone.

Phone functionalities are not compromised. In fact, you can now synchronize your address books so you can have your own one large database. You can select voice mail messages the same way you do for e-mails. So skip those unwanted phone calls. You may also synchronize your e-mails so you can receive messages in real time.

AT&T, its exclusive network carrier, doesn't have any sufficient support when it comes to data network as well as for the lack of IMs and office applications. Handsets can get too warm when used constantly and the iPhone is very prone to smudges, requiring you to wipe it frequently. One of the biggest iPhone drawbacks is its price, which is quite expensive at $599.

Is the iPhone worth to be loved or hated? Your guess is as good as mine.

iPhone Multi Touch Technology

As soon as word about the iPhone's development came out, its most awaited and most anticipated feature was the multi-touch screen display. Noting that it came out with a 3.5-inch screen, one of the largest in the mobile phone history, it is undoubtedly the best feature of this gadget. Unlike its sensors that have been merely developed into the iPhone with a new function, the multi-touch screen is an entirely new development. No other gadget has developed this feature.

This multi-touch screen allows the iPhone users to operate the entire functionality of the gadget using just the fingers. Unlike other touch screens, the iPhone need not be accompanied by a mechanical keyboard or even a stylus. Simply tapping on the screen will allow the user to access menus, dial numbers, and compose SMS or e-mail messages, and so much more. When composing messages, SMS or e-mail alike, the screen displays a virtual keyboard for inputting text. For the benefit of those who has gotten used to mechanical keyboard and might find it a little bit difficult to use a virtual keyboard, Apple has provided the iPhone with applications to address their concerns. These applications include automatic spell check, word prediction, and a customizable dictionary that is open to new word additions. Furthermore, the iPhone addresses the likelihood for typographical errors through its self-correction features.

Another unique feature of the multi-touch screen is the fact that it voids the use of scrolling wheels that are usually found at the side of other smart phones. The reason for this is that the multi-touch screen allows its user to scroll up or down through the screen's display simply by dragging a finger towards the desired direction. The multi-touch screen refines this task by making the scroll speed directly proportional to the speed of the dragged finger.

In addition to this, the multi-touch screen revolutionizes the concept of a multi-media phone. It functions with a sensing ability that can be used for either magnifying or reducing the size of images or web pages. This multi-touch sensing feature allows the user to manipulate display sizes simply by an action similar to pinching. That is, by simply placing two fingers at either side of the object and then moving them either father apart or closer together the image sizes are changed. This does not distort any images because they are scaled and resized according to its original dimensions.

Although these are but some of the most unique features that the multi-touch screen provides, it seems as if one simply has to use the iPhone itself in order to find out the entirety of its benefits.

iPhone Must Have Tech Gadget Of The Year

Before its launch, millions and millions of both Apple enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike awaited its release. Much publicity was given to this product that is anticipated to revolutionize the world of handheld mobiles. Although Apple's goal is merely to sell around ten million units on its first year of release, it was said to have already sold close to three hundred thousand units within its first thirty hours in the market. What about the iPhone makes it deserve such publicity, you ask? We would be a little bit surprised if you do not already know. You do not have to be a big Apple fan or a gadget freak to appreciate this classy innovation. Whether you are an Apple fanatic, a techno geek, a multimedia player fan, a camera phone enthusiast, or whatever else you may be, the iPhone may be the product for you. Being an all-in-one gadget built with the latest and most innovative technology has made this phone the must-have of the year.

Apart from its sleek design that surpasses even the iPod, the iPhone's multi-touch screen is its most admired element. Instead of sporting mechanical buttons just as any handheld mobile, it features a 3.5-inch touch screen layered with optical-quality glass. Because of this, it should be used with the touch of a finger and therefore, there is no need for a stylus. This screen also allows the use of several fingers for easier use of the gadget. All other mechanical buttons that has specific functions in other handheld are replaced with virtual buttons that can be easily manipulated when the screen is touched. This allows its user to scroll through menus, dial phones, compose SMS or email messages just by tapping on the displays.

If that is not enough to prove that its publicity is well-deserved, the iPhone uses Apple's latest operating system called Mac OS X. Through this operating system, it enables its user to access the internet with the Safari web browser. Having this operating system enabled with this web browser, it allows its users to use the internet as one would with any other Apple desktop or laptop. This makes the iPhone very powerful especially as it is compared with the other smart phones in the market. No other smart phone available today has this functionality as all others provide limited operating systems and restricted web browsers. Because of this limited capacity, no other handheld can give its user the same web browsing experience as the iPhone does.

As more and more reviews are published everyday, the iPhone has actually earned much of its attention. The hype prior to its release is at a steady state now, there is no doubt that people will continue to place orders throughout the rest of the year.

iPhone On A Budget

Surely, you've been drooling for an iPhone, but the problem is you don't have enough money. How can you enjoy the different advantages of this smart phone? Well there's one efficient solution: borrow an iPhone. You definitely have a friend or two who'll be glad to allow you to use it for the meantime. But if you want him to let you borrow again, here are some things you must not do:

Don't Use Its EDGE technology. If you don't want your friend to frown or worse never permit you to use the iPhone again, avoid using the phone's Internet browsing technology unless you are near any WiFi connection. EDGE system of AT&T is slow with regards to data transmission. You shouldn't tell your friend about this; else, he might think that you're only trying to criticize the phone.

Avoid checking e-mails. When you're using somebody else's property there's the temptation of perusing another persons missives—in this case, e-mail accounts. If you press the Mail button found in the iPhone, you're given immediate access to your friend's e-mail messages from Gmail, Yahoo, as well as other accounts. Hotmail, fortunately, gives you no easy option.

Do not surf porn in the iPhone. Maybe for curiosity's sake, you decided to browse a porn site utilizing the Safari web browser of the phone. You think you can get away with it, but think again. Like any other web browser found in your PC or notebook, Safari has its own History function that can make it very easy for your friend to check the sites you've visited. Surely, he'll know what you did.

If you can't stop it, however, make sure that you clear History and cache before returning the iPhone. You can do that by pressing on the Home button. Go to Settings, look for Safari, tap it, and scroll down. Tap on "Clear Cache" and "Clear History."

Avoid smudging and sneezing. Before you ever lay your fingers on the iPhone, wipe your fingers ahead. The screen may be superb and shiny to look at, but don't coat it with grease. Turn your back or cover your mouth when you're about to sneeze. If you think finger prints are bad, a sneeze residue is far worse.

Read the manual. There's a reason why it has a manual, and it's opt to be read. So do that. Ask your friend to read through the manual before you decide to operate the iPhone. Just a few hints, though. Don't place the iPhone in any external heat source to dry the phone. Also, avoid crushing, bending, puncturing, shredding, microwaving, painting, disassembling, or inserting any object into the iPhone.Unless you can't follow this, then better get your own.

iPhone OS Applications

The iPhone is considered to be the smartest phone ever created. Made by Apple, it combines such revolutionary technologies such as touch-screen interface, virtual keyboard, Internet connectivity, iPod, and basic phone functions. But a lot of people are dissatisfied. This is because the iPhone is not open to other platforms, which makes it uncustomizable. You cannot install any other programs, or any open source applications.

Nevertheless, all hope is not lost, as latest development suggests that you can now create your third-party applications intended for your iPhone. This is viewed to be one of the most important hacking achievements.

So how did someone do that? An anonymous hacker who has worked extensively with ARM processors developed a "Hello, World!" application and ran it in the iPhone.

It wasn't long, however, before tools started to get better and more applications are produced. In just a span of a few days, the group called iPhone Dev Wiki has expanded their created applications by refining their build tools. This has given a lot of people the opportunity to develop their respective applications and run them in the iPhone. The tools are still in its early stages, yet a clever debugger is already in place, so everyone will just have to expect a lot of progress in the coming days.

With even such rudimentary tools, programmers can compile as well as run certain third-party programs, such as open source applications. This includes Python, Apache, and Dropbear SSH suite, among others. You may also get to compile some of your Unix favorites such as vim.

If you are interested with these kinds of hacks and would love to use them in your phone, all binaries and compilers of some of the mentioned programs can be obtained in iPhone Dev Wiki. Meanwhile, one cannot expect any graphical third-party software or even kernel alterations for the phone anytime soon. These things, however, require, more advanced kinds of tools.

The current breed of OS applications is a very big step forward. SSH along with the other tools can definitely pave the way to more decent capabilities. By building these applications, developers are gaining more knowledge and experience. Thus, we all just need to sit back, relax, and anticipate these number of applications to grow as the toolchain improves gradually.

iPhone OS X In Your Pocket

As soon as Apple fans received word that the iPhone was going to run with the Mac OS X, the hype became even more intensified. For those who do not already know, the Mac OS X is the same operating system found in all of the latest models of Apple computers. However, some disappointment aroused as soon as the fans realized that the iPhone does not contain the entire functionality of the operating system. Surely, the expectation that this small gadget was going to feature the entirety of the Mac OS X seems a little bit absurd. The full operating system is surely too big to fit the iPhone's 4GB or 8GB internal memory. What it has is a 500 MB version of the OS X that was specifically developed for the iPhone.

This compressed feature may leave one very skeptical of the iPhone OS. Truly, you will not get the core features of the Mac OS X user interface which includes the Finder, the Dock, the Desktop, and the Mouse Pointer, the iPhone is still a breeze to use. In place of the desktop, the iPhone features a Grid Application Launch and a mini-version of the Dock. This mini-version will contain all necessary shortcuts to most commonly used applications such as the web browser, or the phone, etc. All the features are easily navigated through its multi-touch display.Apart from these, iPhone OS X still provides so much more than any other smart phone despite its compression. While other smart phones provide limited web access, the iPhone allows unrestricted web access through its Safari web browser. Through this, the iPhone lets its user view web pages in their entire landscape form and then zoom in and out by tapping on the display.Furthermore, the iPhone also features a rich HTML email client that manages the user's emails from POP3 or IMAP services and display images along with the text. The iPhone OS X also extends its features to navigational devices which contains built-in Maps application and also supports Google Maps. Through this, maps and satellite images can easily be viewed and its user can also get information on direction and traffic flow.In addition, like any other Mac running an OS X, the iPhone supports the use of Widgets or those small customizable applications that lets its users easily access information such as weather or stock reports. The iPhone OS X has even provided extra features such as a YouTube player that can easily be launched from its Grid Application Launcher. This way, YouTube videos can be access using the iPhone wherever and whenever. In other words, the iPhone's version of OS X includes all Mac OS X features that are applicable to mobile phones coupled with iPhone-specific features.

iPhone Professional Evaluation

Let's talk about the iPhone. There's no need for me to reiterate how many people are going crazy about this mighty smart phone. And why not? The recent release of iPhone promises a lot of things to its would-be users.

The iPhone is set to revolutionize mobile technology with the implementation of the touch screen interface. This means you don't need to use any other device, such as a stylus or keypads. Applications run based on the touch of your fingers. Inasmuch as this is indeed beauty, people are more used to buttons, and the system used by iPhone will take getting used to.

The 3.5-inch widescreen with 160 dpi display is just fantastic. There's a good mixture between the sharpness of the images, clarity, and vividness of their colors. This also strives to solve what is considered to be the common problem among average cell phones: you cannot simply read everything in one glance because letters are just too small.

Apple's iPhone boasts of its Internet connectivity. It's both WiFi and Bluetooth ready, which assures you that you can certainly connect anytime, anywhere. If there isn't any wireless network, then you can use its EDGE technology. But you can't be completely dependent on it. The phone's only 2G. This means that iPhone may have limited data transmission. It's the Web Safari that tries to compensate that. This innovative Web browser gives you a very unique experience when you're surfing. You can view web pages as is, not any condensed or abbreviated versions.

E-mail messages can be checked, as long as it's in HTML format. You can even opt to download them in real time by synchronizing both your e-mail and your iPhone. In a world where everything is fast paced and you don't really have so much time to sit and surf, the iPhone is one of the best solutions available.

iPhone, however, is like an iPod. You can view your favorite movies, TV shows, and music and store them as your entertainment collection. Yet there's a big BUT to it. The iPhone is still not yet capable to download media files directly from your Internet browser. You still need to download the files to your PC and then transfer them to your phone.

If you are in for the hassle, then go for it. But I'd say even average 3G phones can save you from that one. Moreover, since you're downloading them from the Internet, where websites can be so unsecure, your phone is just as vulnerable as your computer to contain viruses, adware, and spyware. I'm still not sure if you can also run security programs into your phone. But if you want security, go to iTunes Store. They have extensive music collection which you can get for free or at a minimal fee.

I still wish, though, that Apple has been more lenient with regards to its carrier network. I wouldn't say much about AT&T since I can clearly see their efforts of purchasing state-of-the-art facilities for the most comprehensive network coverage, but being locked in for two years seems too long.

iPhone Tech Details For The Geek

We have all heard of the iPhone's special features. We have seen the sleek design. We know of the multi-touch screen that allows us to access everything with the use of our bare fingers. We are well acquainted with the fact that its automated sensors do not only rotate the display according to the phone's position. Nor does it only save battery by automatically sensing that the phone is held up to the owner's ear to make a call and so places the display on standby. They automatically adjust the display's brightness according to its visual needs as well. We also know that it runs with Apple's latest Mac OS X operating system and that it is capable of unrestricted web access through Safari. Yes, we already know all that and that is enough to make us all want one. However, there is so much more to the iPhone than all this. It advances the reputation of any other mobile or smart phone that has preceded it. When you get into the technical specifications of this sensational new gadget, you will understand.

Yes, we have already said that we know of the innovative multi-touch screen that the iPhone possesses. But that's not the only special thing about its display. The iPhone actually maintains one of the largest smart phone screens on the market with a 3.5-inch wide screen display running at 480 by 320 pixels at 160 dots per inch. Its users could not ask for more from a multi-touch screen display. Apart from this, it also has the most internal memory by far. This is a courtesy of a 4 Gigabyte or 8 Gigabyte flash drive. Plus, even with this impressive internal memory size, it is still one of the thinnest smart phones available as it is only 11.6 millimeter thick. It also offers remarkable battery life with talk-time of up to 8 hours and up to 250 hours of standby time. The iPhone's 2 mega pixel camera has also been given quite remarkable reviews for the quality photos it is able to capture. Although it is strictly point and shoot, lacking zoom, flash, and video recording features, its digital quality still surpasses most of other camera phones available in the market today. Also, when it comes to connectivity options, it includes Wi-Fi at 802.11b/g, AT&T's Edge, and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR which is thrice as fast as Bluetooth 1.1.

Apple admits that these features could be more impressive. Truly, there is still much further development for the iPhone. However, anyone who has been lucky enough to use or own one would agree that it provides so much more than expected of any first model. This is especially true for Apple whose core competency is not with handhelds… at least not yet.

iPhones Fiercest Competition Is Samsung

Even before the release of iPhone by Apple last June 30, the mobile industry is already blessed with the introduction of Samsung M620, available through Sprint Nextel.

UpStage, as it is commonly called, was released into the market last April. It has a handset that looks like a candy bar and is less than 0.5 inches in thickness. It is neither tall nor wide as your iPod Nano.

Unlike other cell phones that are struggling to strike perfect balance between the requirements of an average handset and multimedia, UpStage tries to solve the problem by being a two-faced phone. Multimedia functions are found on one side, while the other face contains the phone functions.

Its Face

If the iPhone is popular for its multi-touch technology, UpStage is known for its dual face. The phone face, for one, contains a 1.4-inch color screen, a keypad full of flat soft keys, and a directional toggle. The media side has a 2.1-inch with 176x220 pixel display. Moreover, it also features a navigation pad that is touch sensitive and a central button. There's a small Flip button found at the edge of the phone which allows you to toggle both sides.

The UpStage may feel small in your hand but it's highly durable. The sound quality doesn't diminish whether you're listening to music or a call. Keypads are also very usable. The one great challenge, however, is its four-way touchpad.

Can both sides work simultaneously? No, but they complement each other in some way. For example, if you receive a call and you're playing some music, the media player will stop and the phone side starts to activate. One you stop the call, the music goes back to life.Switching Sides?

Even if the multimedia or music is activated, you still need the phone side when you want to put in some text, such as when you're creating a playlist, searching for some music in Sprint Store, or to specify a website URL that you like to browse using the optimized browser.

Like the iPhone, UpStage is also smart. If the former is sensitive to motion, the latter knows when you have to use the keyboard only found in the phone side. It will automatically reveal a Flip command on its screen.

The Innovative Battery Wallet

This is something iPhone lacks. You still need to buy the accessories separately. But the Samsung M620 battery comes in for free. Embedded in this stylish case is the battery. Its purpose it to protect both screens from scratches and to extend the life of the phone while charging.

iPhones Hidden Widgets

Apple has a way of capturing people's minds. For example, before iPhone found its way into the market, the company fed millions of users around the world with the many features the phone can do. This includes typing using a virtual keyboard, selecting voice messages, zooming in and out of photos, or surfing the Internet with the Safari web browser.

Despite the many features iPhone have, others are still digging deeper, hoping to discover a lot more interesting stuff—and they are successful. A system preference file has actually unveiled the many possibilities of using more widgets and applications for the iPhone. It's just that one need to wait for another firmware upgrade before they can be unlocked.

This system preference file is known as the Default ApplicationState .plist. This contained not only a number of commonly used applications such as MobileiPod, Phonebook, and Weather, but also other interesting features such as Radio, Unit Converter, and Translation. These three are not currently offered by the iPhones sold today.

Everyone can simply deduce that the Translation widget may be for translating various texts in different languages and that the Unit Converter is simply a conversion application. However, what one should be excited about is the Radio. It has been a long time since iPod incorporated this feature into their unit. This function was recently introduced only with the release of the iPod's remote accessory known as iPod Radio. Thus, the chances for Apple to integrate Radio to the iPhone may be quite slim.

All hope's not gone, however, if you will rely on the system preference file. We can just simply look forward to the time when Apple will introduce mobile radio streaming on iPhones very soon. Another source of hope could be the mere fact that this is included in the firmware list. It may indicate that these programs or widgets will be unlocked following an update in the firmware.

In the meantime, iPhone is just relatively new. It hasn't been like a month since people got hold of it and enjoyed and explored its capabilities. Nevertheless, one should not deny the fact that if Apple wants to maintain that edge over all other mobile carriers, it must constantly update its firmware and develop more built-in tools.

iPhones Own Version Of Customer Care

Apple always believes in customer-first policy. Their products are all geared to better the lives of individuals. Every new technology they released into the market is known to provide ease and convenience.

The same philosophy is applied to the iPhone. It combines Internet connectivity, calendaring, e-mail, text, and call messaging, and highly advanced phone interfaces. This means that the phone can act as your own web browser, iPod, and average phone all at the same time.

But Apple doesn't stop there. Along with the release of this revolutionary phone, the management introduced a new line of customer care called AppleCare. This is a phone protection plan that helps ensure iPhone users that they won't miss any message, call, or lose Internet connection by extending its repair coverage to 2 years from the date of the phone's purchase.

The Repair Coverage at a Glance

iPhones are provided with one year's worth of repair coverage for their hardware and two years for other technical issues. This, of course, is within the bounds of your terms stated in wireless contract of AT&T. This protection plan is also an added benefit to any legal provisions given by laws of consumer protection in your area.

The Applecare Plan can extend the coverage to two years, no matter if you are using the phone together with a PC or a MAC. All it needs is one simple call to their customer care department.

But what else does this comprehensive repair coverage offers? Most of all, it grants all iPhone users some peace of mind, which is definitely priceless. Once you avail of the coverage and you happen to experience some technical problem and the phone needs repair, Apple technicians can do the job for you and will even give you a replacement making use of original Apple parts.

Some Exceptions

This is definitely good news, isn't it? Yes, it is, but not to all states, however. Unfortunately, Apple cannot sell AppleCare iPhone Protection Plan to those users who are living in Wyoming, Nevada, Alabama, and Connecticut. If you happen to be located in any of these areas, save yourself from the hassle by not ordering the plan. If you do, Apple will only delete such from your orders, inform you of what they did, and will just continue to process the rest of the things stated in your order form.

iPhones Robust List Of Features

With all the attention it has received, one can now assume that everyone should know about it or should have heard about it at the very least. The real question now is not what the iPhone is, but what it has and what it is capable of doing.

The most important feature of the iPhone is its revolutionary multi-touch screen. This screen voids the necessity for any mechanical button to appear on this gadget. In its simplest terms, this allows you to use your bare fingers to operate it unlike other smart phones that either sport mechanical keyboards or require the use of a stylus. Just by tapping on the screen with your bare skin, you are able to go through its menus, dial numbers, compose SMS or e-mail messages and use the entire functionality of this gadget. Its 3.5-inch screen displays a virtual keyboard for the purpose of inputting text. Although most people are skeptical about typing with a virtual keyboard, it should be known that Apple has predicted this difficulty and provided the iPhone with features such as automatic spell check, word prediction, and a customizable dictionary that allows its users to add new words. More than this, it addresses the issue of typographical errors common to touch-screen usage through its self-correction capabilities.

When it comes to scrolling, no wheel is found at the side of the iPhone. Instead, the functionality of the multi-touch screen allows its user to scroll up or down just by dragging a finger towards the desired direction. The speed by which it is programmed to scroll is proportional to that of the dragged finger.

Apart from this, the multi-touch screen also enables many other functions such as multi-touch sensing which is commonly used for magnifying or reducing either photos or web pages. Using this, the user can manipulate the size of some objects by simply placing two fingers at either side of the object and then moving them either father apart or closer together. This will not distort any images because they are scaled and resized according to its original dimensions.

In addition to this gadget's smart features, it allows unrestricted web access through the Mac OS X operating system and the Safari web browser. This allows it to be used just as any other Apple computer actually making it smarter than any other smart phone in the market today.

The iPhone also features automated functions through its specially designed sensors. These sensors work in many different ways. It rotates the screen display according to the position of the phone and also puts the phone on standby mode by turning off the display when it is held up to the user's ear. Additionally, they automatically adjust to the appropriate brightness required for any given environment.

These are but some of the iPhone's exclusive features. Most, functions of any other handheld are in place and unlike other all-in-one gadgets, Apple has not compromised the functionality of one feature over another.

Which case to buy for your iPhone?

The iPhone is known to be a surprisingly durable phone. According to the Stress Test performed by PCWorld, it can withstand cell phone drop and scratches. Yet it doesn't mean that you'll just leave the phone as is. If you want to extend its life, give it a good cover.

iSkin has just announced that it will start shipping Revo cases for your iPhone at a price of $39.99. But you wonder, why has Apple consented to such setup rather than depend on their own cell phone cases? Here are the reasons:

Duotone Design. Revo cases are popular because of its duotone design. It offers more sophistication to your phone, by color accents that perfectly complement your phone's body color. The colors aren't flashy yet expressive and come in a variety of choices. You can definitely add your own style in your iPhone.

ViSOR. iSkin employs casing technology called ViSor, which makes your phone resistant to any scratch, especially its screen. It also reduces the effect of impact of objects to your phone. It is a good combination of polycarbonate, which makes it durable, and coated with optical clear-coat. ViSor can be easily snapped to the phone's front cover then protect its screen. It's as easy to snap it too at the rear so the case can blend seamlessly.

Antimicrobial. Mobile phones are known to contain some harmful bacteria that can be transferred to the human body through constant contact. This is proven by clinical studies. iSkin included antimicrobial protection in their Revo cases to prevent the growth of fungi and germs. Revo cases become the first silicon protector that provides such type of protection.

Extensive Coverage. Revo is considered to be the best choice in keeping both you and your iPhone well protected. Its design contains features that are all useful and well-thought of. It's made of the best kinds of materials that allow the case to cover all vulnerable spots of the phone, controls, and ports. This means that you're sure to achieve peace of mind—the ultimate benefits you get for a protector from iSkin. It also protects the iPhone from surface damage and shock due to accidental drops.

A Definite Grip. Revo case is made of strong exterior silicone that features a very subtle texture that promotes a more enhanced grip for the iPhone. It also prevents sliding if the phone is placed in more angled surfaces. It's also coated with antidust to avoid lint and dust.

So protect your iPhones with elegant Revo cases. Protection with style.

Thinking Of Buying An iPhone?

If you got yourself caught up in the early iPhone frenzy, you have probably already set some money aside in order to fit one into your budget. With all the well-deserved reviews, it is no wonder that you are considering buying one to enjoy its exclusive features as well. Even as it has not been out in the market for very long, it seems as if the iPhone's functionally has been tried and tested. Seriously, why are you still thinking about it when you can buy one already? Most likely, you are still deliberating on whether your hard-earned US$499 is worth this new fad or not. To facilitate your decision, consider the following pros and cons of the iPhone in order to know for certain whether it is the handheld for you or not.

The most anticipated and highly enjoyed feature of the iPhone is its multi-touch screen that replaces any and all of the mechanical buttons that are found in any other handheld. Through this, you will be able to make use of the entire functionality of the phone, not with the stylus, but with your bare fingers. One touch allows you to operate the menus, dial numbers, compose messages, do whatever else you may want to do, or access everything that is stored in this gadget.

Furthermore, who wouldn't want to have unlimited access to the internet with something that can fit so comfortably in your pocket? Yes, this is one of the many special features of the iPhone. It functions with the Mac OS X operating system allowing you to browse the internet with Safari. This operating system and web browser are the same ones maintained by any other Apple desktop or laptop today. For this reason, it allows you to surf the internet more conveniently compared with other smart phones in the market that functions with limited operating systems and restricted web browsers.

Last but not the least, the iPhone's high-tech sensors have provided even more than expected features. They are sensitive to the position of the phone and automatically rotate the screen from portrait to landscape, depending on how it is being held. Also, in order to conserve its battery life, the display automatically shuts off when you are making a call. That is, it goes on standby as you hold the phone up to your ear. In addition, as if that is not enough, its sensors also detect the amount of light in its surroundings adjusting the brightness of the display as it changes.

Although these are only a few of the exceptionally innovative features of the iPhone, they should be enough to make you go running to the store to purchase one. If not, what is considered to be the best product in the handheld market today may just not be the right one for you.

Why iPhone Is A Waste Of Money

Are you into the iPhone hype? A lot of people are still in a daze on how many applications this smart phone can do. Yet there are still a couple of limitations, which may let you think: did I make the right decision or is the 8525 Pocket IE's way better.

It's just dual-band phone. This means that your smart phone isn't 3G unlike any other average phone sold in the market today. It may be equipped with a Safari web browser, which is itself a piece of wonder, but it's nothing because of bad EDGE connection. The 8525 Pocket IE seems backwards. Nevertheless, the UMTS connection is definitely high speed, which compensates other weaknesses. But it will work better if you have another add-on called PiePlus installed.

It takes more than just a click to perform a function. iPhone boasts of a one-button interface, yet it's still loaded with too many cumbersome functions. One is that you practically have to do a lot of clicking—or, in iPhone's case, finger touching—just to run an application or a program. Other phones such as the 8525 are full of buttons that are sometimes too hard to press, yet they can be programmed so you can automatically open applications with ease and one press.

There's no way to have it customized. The iPhone is a web browser, iPod, and an average phone all in one. But you can never have the chance to change its default settings or to tweak the applications, unless Apple decides to open the platform to other software developers. The 8525, on the other hand, can install any third-party toolbar, along with the installation of PiePlus.

There's no such thing as to-do list. It has a calendar system, address book, and highly advanced e-mail and call messaging option, but there's no way that you can find a to-do list in an iPhone. This is completely heartbreaking for businesspeople and other professionals who are completely dependent on a checklist. You may compensate that with any web-based tools, but they don't function unless you're connected or using the EDGE technology. The 8525 has a useful to-do application, even if it's crude. If it doesn't work properly, then you can always choose to download other third-party options.

You're stuck with a two-year contract. The buy the iPhone at such an expensive price is one thing, but to be tied to its two-year contract. The 8525, meanwhile, can be available at a price of $80.

With all the iPhone disadvantages, it still deserves a chance. After all, it hasn't celebrated its first birthday. Who knows what other software upgrades Apple can offer pretty soon?

iPhone Is It Just A Glorified iPod

The whole world anticipated Apple's comeback in the handheld industry. It was able to build up a great big frenzy throughout the world. Now that is has been released, everyone wants one. But it seems as if only America can benefit from the full features of this must-have. What happens to the people from the rest of the world that have been saving up for an iPhone, anticipating its release? It looks like all they will get is a glorified iPod.

Everyone knows that the Apple has an exclusive contract with Cingular. Those countries that do not have access to Cingular may still purchase the iPhone. However, what is the iPhone without the use of the phone?

The same is true with its internet browsing options. Considering that it's data network is based on AT&T's Edge, web browsing with Safari cannot be access in countries not reached by AT&T's services. In this case, iPhone enthusiasts from countries other than the United States might as well cross "unrestricted web access" out from the list of features they will be able to enjoy… or should they? It has been told (by Steve Jobs himself) that the iPhone is not exclusively reliant on Edge for internet service. Although this is the only company that may provide internet data networks to iPhone users in America, broadband connection can still be used assuming that one has access to Wi-Fi hotspots. For this reason, iPhone fanatics from around the world can still make full use of its Mac OS X operating system and Safari web browser.

Unlike the issue with internet access, the problems with Cingular access cannot be overcome. The iPhone will continue to function without the use of the phone in other countries unless Apple gets the chance to address this. However, this fact is not stopping consumers around the world from purchasing this must-have. They will still be able to enjoy the multi-touch screen which can now only be seen with the iPhone. This feature in itself will make the iPhone an ultra cool gadget to own, even if one cannot make calls. So for those who say that the iPhone will just be a glorified iPod to those who do not have Cingular access, you're understating it a little bit. However, if by saying "glorified" you mean an iPod with a 3.5-inch multi-touch screen, automated sensors, unrestricted web browsing, large internal memory, and a two mega pixel camera, then by all means, call it what you will.

iPhone Has Three Amazing Sensors

Apple has carefully earned its reputation for sleek gadgets with the most innovative designs. With the launch of the iPhone, Apple has taken this reputation to greater heights. With the hype and all the media mileage that this new gadget has been receiving, it seems as if attention is greatly deserved. Truly, the presence of the new multi-touch technology is enough to get people talking and start dreaming of owning one. Not to mention the iPhone's ability to provide the user with unrestricted internet access through its Mac OS X operating system and Safari web browser. However, attention to these features has greatly overpowered another key feature of the iPhone.

Another technology that the iPhone possesses is equally important yet seems to be less appreciated. This has to do with the sensors that have the ability to detect changes with regard to the iPhone's position and its environment. These sensors are very tiny yet are very powerful. The three major sensors featured by the iPhone include an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor.

The iPhone's accelerometer gives it the ability to detect changes in the phone's position. Depending on how it is held, the iPhone's display will rotate either to portrait or landscape, fitting all its contents in a 3.5-inch screen. Because it changes the display according to original ratio, it does not distort images that will commonly be encountered when viewing web pages, videos, or photos.

Another one of the iPhone's unique sensors include the proximity sensors. These detect the location of the iPhone with regard to the user's skin. This means that when the user makes a call and hold the phone against his ear, the display will automatically be placed on standby mode. This is an important feature because it serves two functions. For one, shutting off the display when it is not needed saves battery power. Also, it avoids involuntary touches on the multi-touch screen which would be sensitive to even the skin on the user's face. The display will automatically appear once more as soon as the iPhone is moved away from the user's face.

Lastly, the iPhone's ambient light sensor gives this gadget another feature to boast about. Through this sensor, changes in the phone's environment are automatically detected and will adjust the display's brightness to the appropriate level. Because of this, the iPhone's display will never be too bright or too dim.

Although these sensors are not entirely new innovations, it is the first time in the mobile phone industry that they have been used to serve such functions. This definitely gives iPhone users so much more to brag about.

iPhone Has Security Issues

Hackers can trick the victims to visit a malicious website through their iPhone. From there, they can retrieve all important information about the phone users. Unscrupulous hackers can then utilize these data for illegitimate transactions. The worst part is, you wouldn't know about it until it's already too late.

However, Apple doesn't want to simply take matters sitting down. They are currently developing a patch for iPhone. Should this really come to fruition, this will be considered the first software upgrade for the phone. Nevertheless, none of their representatives can ever explain if such patch will come just before the release of such findings.

You may ask, however, why should Apple handle security patches when other mobile phone manufacturers are giving this type of control to mobile carriers? This is because majority of the carriers are pretty slow in developing security patch devices, no matter even if they already know that there are bugs existing. Exclusive iPhone patching by Apple provides two types of benefit: one, they can easily create a software that will correct the flaw, and second, who else does know the iPhone better than its manufacturers, right?

Should It Cause a Public Stir?

Should this latest technological glitch cause bother to iPhone users? Yes, it should, as it only means that what you may have is a weak system that can be penetrated by simply anyone, especially those who are highly knowledgeable in the process of hacking.

But it doesn't mean that you can't do anything to at least alleviate the potential problem:

Study your iPhone very carefully. A lot of mobile users seldom care in reading their instruction manuals. These are created because they contain instructions when problems arise. How to beat the hack may not be there, but if you have adequate knowledge of your iPhone, you can easily detect if something is amiss.

Make yourself constantly updated. Now that there are already initial findings available, you just need to brush up on the latest updates available about the security patch. Visit the iPhone website as often as possible. You can also contact their customer or technical support, or drop by the nearest Apple store within your area.

iPhone Drawbacks And Pitfalls

All the chitchat before its release has made the iPhone the center of the tech world's attention. From the intensified anticipation before its release to magnificent reviews as soon as it was out in the market, the iPhone has become a must-have to those who can afford it and an ambition to those who can't. Although its reviews proclaim that all the attention towards is iPhone is well-deserved, it actually is still far from perfect.

One of the major complaints regarding the iPhone has to do with the life of its battery. It is said that because of the complicated technical features of this gadget, the battery is easily drained. Many say that the battery used is second-rate and has a long way to go with further development. Another major complaint is on the data network that it uses. The iPhone operates with AT&T's Edge which is quite sluggish especially when compared with the present day's highly developed networks. However, Apple claims that this should not prove to be a major drawback since the iPhone was designed to be notorious in receiving broadband connection through Wi-Fi hotspots. Furthermore, it is said that the iPhone is not open to third-party software developers.

More criticisms pile up as the iPhone's absent features are scrutinized. With the increasing appreciation for 3G technology, it truly is surprising that the iPhone does not support it. MMS functions, even, are not provided. Even voice dialing or voice recording cannot be done with this handheld. In addition, when it comes to messaging, users would have to stick with traditional emails and SMS because it still does not have an instant messaging function. Copy and paste functions are also absent. Going even further, it is difficult for its users to understand why such a multimedia device does not have a memory card slot. Although it is said that it should have sufficient built-in memory, users of other smart phones and mobiles of higher models believe in the convenience of external memory. Even its Bluetooth capabilities are limited as it does not support A2DP or even regular file transfers. Some minor complaints also include the lack of exclusive games and inability to set alert tones using MP3 files.

Although the iPhone may be one of, if not the best, handheld mobiles available in the market today, there is still a lot of space for improvement. However, this being the iPhone's first model (excluding the Newton), we could only assume that the next one will be closer to perfect than we could ever imagine.

iPhone Comes With Applecare

Mac users know how taxing it can be when their Apple products need service without the benefit of warranties. It is not only very expensive to replace parts if needed but also difficult to obtain service. Apple has addressed this concern regarding the iPhone by providing a one-year warranty for hardware repairs and two years for technical support with each purchase. However, since the iPhone is not expected to be one of those smart phone frenzies that will easily be replaced by consumers, Apple now provides an AppleCare Protection Plan designed especially for it.

Before the iPhone was released on June 29, Apple admitted that AppleCare Protection Plan has not extended its service for the product but promised that it will be made available as soon as possible. Soon after the launch of the iPhone, Apple's online store featured its AppleCare Protection Plan extended warranty.

The transferable service extension costs the owner an extra US$69 which should not be so surprising as it extends the hardware warranty to two years, covering possible expenses for any defects apart from those caused by accidents. This covers even iPhone accessories that are sold separately such as the Bluetooth Headset. For the lifetime of this warranty, service for your iPhone will be one phone call away whether or not it is used with a Mac. Because technical support is already available up to two years from the iPhone's purchase, the AppleCare Protection Plan does not provide for its extension.

Apple claims that this service extension applies to battery replacements as well. This is very good news to all iPhone users as the battery is said to be one of the iPhone's major shortcomings and replacement without the protection plan can cost the user almost US$20 more than the price of the AppleCare package itself.

iPhone users can purchase this AppleCare Protection plan anytime within one year of the handset purchase provided that they are not within the states of Alabama, Connecticut, Nevada, and Wyoming wherein sales of this insurance product is considered illegal. Purchasing the AppleCare package is strongly recommended as it really is a good price for the service and genuine replacement parts it promises.

Furthermore, it should really prove to be a good move considering that the iPhone is still early in Apple's venture into the mobile phone industry. Although it has gone through careful and extensive testing, no one knows for sure how developed the iPhone really is. Surely, shelling out another US$69 should not feel so taxing if you know it will relieve you of your iPhone worries.

iPhone And Internet Security

Just weeks after the release of the iPhone, news on its apparent security risks have erupted. This media attention has left current iPhone users both scared and aggravated. Truly, hundreds of thousands of Apple fanatics already have the iPhone at hand. If you are one of those people, don't let your knees shake as this issue on security risks is not as intense as the media has made it seem.

It shall not be denied that a team of hackers have successfully broken into a portion of the iPhone's system only within a few days of its release. This team is comprised of security consultants who break into computer systems professionally in order to test the levels of security. It was said that the team's only incentive to break into the iPhone system was a bet where the wager was the iPhone itself. If the team is successful, each member will receive one from their boss. The hack that they claimed to have done has already been confirmed. Malicious code could discreetly be placed in the iPhone system either through a bogus wireless access point or through forum discussions wherein the user is most likely to participate. It is claimed that once this malicious code is in place, the hacker gains complete control of the device.

Although this attack has successfully been done, iPhone users need not be dismayed as ISE (the team of security consultants) is willing to work hand-in-hand with Apple. In fact, they have already sent a sample of means to patch this vulnerability. As of this moment, Apple is already working on ways and means to fix the presented security flaws. True, it seems like quite a big disappointment to have a few elite hackers break into the iPhone's security right away. However, it this should really not be a big deal. It is not an issue that should make current iPhone users get rid of their iPhones. Nor should those contemplating on purchasing one forget the idea.

The ISE team publicly recommended that iPhone users be careful when using their handheld. They should not get too excited with the gadget's unrestricted internet access. It is important to remember that users must be careful when connected to the internet and they must be wary of emails from unknown sources, visiting uncommon websites, and downloading mysterious attachments. However, when you think about it, aren't those the universal recommendations for any internet device? Think about it. If this issue is enough to make you avoid using or purchasing your iPhone, you might as well take your desktop and keep it in a carton.

Can iPhone Survive Abuse

How strong is your iPhone? Abuse is a common problem for cell phone users. They're either prone to shock or permanent damage when dropped. Else, they can have scratches all over.

How about the iPhone? iPhone abuse has received its fair share or analysis and review.

Resistant to Scratch

There appears to be a consensus among critics that the iPhone is scratch-resistant even if its shiny surface is prone to smudges. According to Steven Levy, a reviewer, these finger smudges, though it turns the entire touch screen mucky, it can be easily cleaned with the use of babywipes or damp cloth. As for its wear and tear, the iPhone is still capable of looking good and new even if they're jammed all together with pens, keyrings, and coins in your pocket.

Walt Mossberg, an Apple aficionado and a critic, believes that its being scratch resistant is due to its strong lass. Even if it can pick up finger prints, it can't acquire any scratch, no matter if it has a holster or a protective case.

The Sensitive Back?

Generally, the surface of an iPhone doesn't easily scratch, but how about its back? Critics say that it's as resistant as the front, though it can still possess some scratches, primarily in the Apple's shiny logo. This is the part that is not often protected by any case.

PCWorld's Stress Test

The stress test performed by Eric Butterfield is considered to be one of the most comprehensive abuse tests done on the iPhone. The phone was subject to a lot of examinations such as scratch test, pressure test, and drop test. The result? iPhone is highly tolerable with pressure. Even if it finds itself being robbed by numerous other materials in you pocket or bag, it can still function normally, with no scratches and no affected application or button.

However, the most surprising revelation is that the iPhone is literally strong. Consider the drop test, which was performed in linoleum, carpet, and concrete. Except for a very minor dent, the iPhone looks brand new and, most of all, functioning.

Some Words of Advice

Now it doesn't mean that since it passes the abuse test, you will just feel all lenient of it. Remember, these are all one-time tests. Do all of these repeatedly and you'll see your phone "age" fast. If you want to give it maximum protection, give it a good silicone case. Avoid exposing it to heat. As an owner, you have the sole responsibility for its prolonged use.

Battle Between Nokia And iPhone

Apple has often regarded the iPhone as one smart phone—yet there are a lot of competitions. One of the strongest contenders is Nokia's N95. Which one is better? Actually, the choice rests upon you, but this comparison can help you make a decision a lot faster and easier:

Why N95 Is Better

One of its best advantages is its GPS network, which permits you to navigate very easily. This built-in program is the secret to finding addresses, locations, street names, and even postal codes. For a minimum fee, you can upgrade this service so you can use voice instructions through a handset. It also supports a lot of push-email programs and can synchronize along with your Microsoft Exchange Server. This allows you to view any MS Office document through a program called QuickOffice. It will also optimize these documents so you can read the texts more effectively. This is one of the most important features used by business users. Unlike the iPhone, it is equipped with a built-in FM radio. The headset allows you to access your radio and can also function as a tuner.

Why iPhone Should Be Your Choice

First of all, the iPhone isn't only a phone. It's also an iPod. You can play all sorts of media files, as long as they're in acceptable formats. You can listen to music, watch a movie or a TV show, or listen to audiobooks. Its 3.5-inch screen further maximizes your viewing experience for full entertainment pleasure. The phone also has full capability to accept Web-based e-mails even in real time, as long as it's in HTML format. You can configure your Yahoo! Mail for that.

The iPhone makes use of a web browser called Safari, which is highly advanced. You can actually view those web pages as is. You may also zoom them in just by a simple tap of your finger.

Apple wants to make sure that you have a mini-OS right at your phone. This means you can enjoy common desktop applications, along with its basic phone functions. Expect a calendar, a Notepad, and an address book, among others. You may even do multitasking as you can surf the Web as you're downloading your e-mail, allowing you to save considerable time.

Perhaps it's the phone's user interface that the iPhone is famous for. It integrates the touch screen technology, which means you don't have to use any keypad just to send in your text or make a call. It utilizes instead virtual QWERTY keyboard, which only appears when they are to be used.

Which one is better, you say? It's still the user's viewpoint that matters most.

iPhone : Must Have Tech Gadget Of The Year

Before its launch on June 19 of 2007, millions and millions of both Apple enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike awaited its release.

The hype prior to its release is at a steady state now ,there is no doubt that people will continue to place orders throughout the rest of the year.
